The Bible and the Writings

The Writings claim to contain God's explanation of the spiritual sense of the Bible, based on correspondences.  At the same time, some of the teachings of the Writings may appear to conflict with the Bible's teaching.  To resolve this apparent conflict, it is useful to review what in fact the Bible does teach since many of the teachings that Christianity has developed over the centuries have been based on interpretation, rather than explicit teachings actually found in the letter of Scripture.
