Philosophical Considerations in Theistic Science

Dualism

Theistic Science is not monistic, but assumes a Generalised Dualism where each discrete degree is separated from others in ways similar to the dualism of Mind vs Body, and of Divine vs Nature.

Leon James has written two papers which discuss how the ideas presented here lead to this dualism:

The website www.newdualism.org has a section devoted to the dualistic essentials of Theism, and the need there for a generative dualism.

Theism, Deism, Pantheism and Atheism (etc)

There are many sites on the web for theism, its basis and its consequences. The site http://www.newtheism.com has sets of links for Theism on the Web.

The ideas of generalised dualism and discrete degrees may now help us to understand the dualism of the divine and nature within a fully-fledged new theism.

Homunculi

Theistic explanations have the feature that they explain phenomena which appear simple to us in terms of something much more complicated, namely the infinite and wonderful God. Some people may not be happy with this, since the result is not an explanation of nature, minds, spirituality (etc) on the basis of elementary objects with elementary behaviour, and they may object that they do not thereby understand cognition, etc. It appears that we are explaining human nature, for example, in terms of spiritual homunculi concerning which we have even less direct awareness.  In reply, I ask Why must homunculi be so stupid?

Distortions and Partial Views

Distortions of the Divine Image result when unbalanced reception or uneven growth occurs.

Partial Views are outlined which are common when some of the discrete degrees are ignored.
